On Thursday, 29 May at 18:00, the exhibition “Digital Twins: Echoes from the Archive” by Danish artists Diana Velasco and Ida Kvetny will be opened at the pop-up art space in Berga Bazārs (opposite the ISSP Gallery).
The exhibition will feature two digital artworks. DIGITAL TWINS (2024) explores the construction of identity, the affordances and limitations of facial recognition technology, and the creative potential of collaboration with intelligent systems. AQUA QUANTUM (2025) brings together classical sculptural traditions and modern technologies to reflect on the cyclical nature of time and art’s ability to create connections between past, present, and future.
During the opening, artist Diana Velasco will introduce the exhibited works and engage with audience.
The exhibition serves as an introduction to a broader conversation on digital art taking place during a panel discussion hosted by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia at the Ziemeļsala (Nordic Island) tent at the LAMPA Conversation Festival in Cēsis on 20 June.
Both artists are co-founders of “Radar Contemporary”, an artist-driven exhibition platform based in Copenhagen, Denmark, that brings together contemporary artists working in the field of digital art.
The exhibition is open from 29 May to 1 June (opening hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00).
Curator: Elina Lazareva
Supported by: Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia, Danish Culture Institute, Berga Bazārs and Riga Art Week.
