Alternative Furniture designed by Art Academy of Latvia will be presented on 2008 Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture Fair from February 6 until 10. The village will be the theme at the 2008 Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture Fair's exhibition hall for independent designers and design schools. This year's Greenhouse will take on the form of a stylised little town or village, with houses, streets and squares. The villagers will be the exhibitors themselves. A stand of Art Academy of Latvia is based on idea about alternative furniture.
Concept of the stand, described by Rolands: „Imitation of the urbanized environment – venture to make out a synthetic nature? The dominating colour in the stand is red – contrary of a green nature. Posts - urbanized trees - are trying to reach the sky. The ground, imaginary squares, are mountains. We have concluded a convention that green is green. An urbanisation has deformed human thinking. It is needed to come back to the nature. A synthetic nature orders to find the real, because we know for sure – NO for synthetics! ”
The stand is developed by the group of students and teaching staff of Art Academy of Latvia.
Students: Rolands Vegners - design of the product, Baiba Lindane, Ugis Gailis – design of the stand, Matiss Murovskis – graphic design, Elina Busmane - coordinator.Tutors: Holgers Elers - stand concept, Gita Straustina, Ervins Pastors.
