The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office and publishing house Janis Roze, in cooperation with publishers Zvaigzne ABC and Lauku Avize invite to a healthy dose of Swedish humour on 12 May, 17:30.Â
During the event book publishers and translators will delve into the themes of humour and aging in Swedish contemporary literature – what characterises them and why they exert such a pull on Latvian readers.
The examples for discussion will be taken from the gripping and witty novels “A Man Called Ove†by Fredrik Backman, “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared†and “The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden†by Jonas Jonasson, as well as “The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules†by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg.
The event will be held in Latvian.
