Come bike and celebrate Europe Day!

On May 12, the celebration of the Europe Day will be arranged like an EU garden Festival in the Vermanis Garden. The theme is the ‘European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Between Generations’ and the motto of the festival is ‘Let us be active through generations! Join in!’During the day, there will be different kinds of activities involving bicycling to promote ‘green traffic’ and to further ‘active ageing’ in Latvia. The programme is as follows:
•Bicycle Parade: 1.00-2.00 PM, with the participation of the EU-Ambassadors around the streets of Riga.

•Bike school: All day at the Vermanis Garden. Trainees from the Danish Embassy and the Danish Cultural Institute will learn about bicycling, the bicycling rules etc.

•Bike Relay: 12.00-3.30 PM - A bicycle relay race, with several locations in Riga, where each participant will be handed a “passport”, which will be stamped on each location. Chance to win prizes!

The Bicycle Relay is organized by the Royal Danish Embassy, the Danish Cultural Institute, British Council, the Embassy of Finland, the Royal Dutch Embassy, the French Institute in Latvia, the Goethe Institute and the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia.
