On the initiative of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia a joint cultural presentation – NORDIC SPRING – will take place this Spring in cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy, the Embassy of Finland, the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Embassy of Sweden.
The NORDIC SPRING is the most important Nordic cultural presentation in Latvia this year. The central axis of the programme is the design exhibition “Scandinavian Design Beyond the Myth” produced by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of Scandinavian Design and reflects how small countries have made a big name for themselves in the world of art and design. The exhibition opens on 23 March at the Museum of Decorative Applied Arts in Riga.
As an additional accent to the exhibition, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office will organise Nordic design workshops, led by internationally recognised Nordic designers. The workshops will be followed up by a seminar open to the wider public, about the presence of design in our daily life.
Around the exhibition, which is like a peak in time-space, will be placed a wide spectrum of cultural events, which will be organised by the Royal Danish Embassy, the Embassy of Finland, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the Embassy of Sweden and the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office. The programme includes over 40 events: exhibitions, concerts, dance performances, literary evenings, film shows and other events.
