On 27 May, 18:00 the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office will host Juris Kronbergs' conversations with Nordic authors II.

The title of Thursday's discussion is

ICELAND – FROM ASHES TO LITERATURE

Many of us have recently felt terrorised by Icelandic volcanoes. To what extent is the ancient literature of Iceland responsible for today’s ash clouds? Is its contemporary literature volcanic too? Is it just as hazardous to the literature of other countries as volcanic eruptions to the international air traffic? And what can we expect in the future?

Writer and translator Juris Kronbergs will talk to Icelandic poet and translator Hrafn Andrés Harðarson seeking answers to these and other questions of relevance.

Hrafn Andrés Harðarson is a librarian, poet and translator who at the moment resides at the International Writers' and Translators' House in Ventspils, supported via the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture. H.Harðarson has retained interest in the Latvian literature and history through many years, as testify his many translations of renowned Latvian authors into Icelandic.

The event will be held in English. Free entrance.
