His Majesty King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf and Her Majesty Queen Silvia will conduct a state visit to Latvia on March 26 – 27, 2014, upon invitation of the President of Latvia Mr. Andris Bērziņš. The King and Queen will be accompanied by an official delegation, including representatives of the Swedish government and a business delegation. The goal of the state visit is to further strengthen the excellent relations between Sweden and Latvia in culture, politics and economy. The visit starts with the royal Swedish couple meeting the Latvian president and speaker of the Saeima Mrs. Solvita Āboltiņa, a flower laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument at 11:40 on March 26th, and a tour of the Museum of Occupation.  The state visit will continue with the King opening the Swedish – Latvian Business Forum and meeting Latvian Prime Minister Mrs. Laimdota Straujuma, while the Queen will participate in several events related to the culture and social welfare. As part of the state visit there will be a 20 year anniversary ceremony of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.
