The project call of the Nordic Council of Ministers' education cooperation programme Nordplus 2022 finalized with 33 projects from Latvia proposed for total funding of 953,335.00 euros. From Latvia a total of 46 project applications in four sub-programmes were submitted in the call.
The Nordplus Adult education programme will implement 23% of all Nordplus Adult education sub-programme projects supported in 2022, ranking second after Lithuania in terms of the number of projects approved. Out of 18 applications submitted by Latvian organizations, 8 projects have been approved with the total allocated funding of 339,025.00 euros. 7 adult education organizations from Latvia participate in projects coordinated by other countries.
In the Nordplus Junior programme 11 out of 12, project applications submitted by Latvian educational institutions have been approved by the Nordplus programme committee with total funding of 226,860.00 euros. Another 37 Latvian educational institutions have been involved as partners in projects coordinated by other countries. In terms of supported projects, Latvia ranks third after Lithuania and Denmark representing 12.5% of all submitted projects in the Nordplus Junior programme.
In the Nordplus Higher Education programme, 10 out of 12 Latvian project applications with total funding of 259,010.00 euros have been approved. Latvian higher education institutions have been involved as partners in 59 projects coordinated by other countries.
This yearn the Nordplus Horizontal programme, which links together Junior, Higher Education and Adult programmes, Latvian project applicants will launch 3 out of 4 submitted projects for total funding of 128,440.00 euros. 10 Latvian organizations have been involved as partners in projects coordinated by other countries. In addition, this year 2 Latvian educational institutions have been involved in projects as partners in the Nordplus Nordic Languages Programme.
From all Nordplus member states, a total of 371 project applications were submitted. As a result, 305 projects were proposed for funding by the Nordplus Programme Committee with total funding of 9,925,030.00 euros. The submitted projects are aimed at strengthening cooperation between the countries of the Nordplus programme by improving the education system and introducing innovations.

In 2023, the next five-year period of the Nordplus programme will begin. The first project call of the Nordplus programme new period is planned at November 1, 2022, with the deadline for submission of project applications till February 1, 2023. Meanwhile, from the 1st of September to the 3rd of October, 2022, it will be possible to submit project applications for preparatory visits within programmes of Junior, Adult and Nordic Languages.
Continuing to promote co-operation between the Nordic and Baltic countries in all fields of education, changes of an administrative and financial nature are envisaged in the specific programmes. Annual Nordplus call for proposals will be open to educational institutions, companies and organizations operating in the field of education establishing cooperation with one of the Baltic or Nordic countries.
