Martin Vorkinn, the advisor at Lesja municipality in Norway, arranged study visits to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia during 2021-2022 thanks to the Nordic-Baltic mobility programme for public administration.

Martin Vorkinn visited Marijampolė Municipality in Lithuania, Valka Municipality in Latvia and Tartu in Estonia in the framework of the project "Efficient work routines and best practices within the field of municipal administrative work". Objectives of the project were to exchange and strengthen knowledge, experiences and best practices concerning delegation of powers and duties, citizen participation in decision-making processes, models for organizing staff work, and to gain mutual positive effects, develop fruitful cross-border network contacts between municipalities for future cooperation. The aims were also to study each other's efficient work routines and best practices within the field of municipal administrative work.

Martin Vorkinn said that the project benefited his organisation by getting the possibility to implement new methods and improve working methods in the fields included in the project. He added that the other benefits are the connections and contacts which were strengthened and established through the project, which can be useful also in other matters in the future.

"The programme definitely met my expectations! I found the application and report system to be smooth and easy to use. All in all, only positive vibes. Today the global situation is indicating that this kind of cross-border programmes and projects are becoming increasingly important!" he explained.
