On 9 September,18.00 you are welcome to join the Artist's Talk by the Finnish illustrator, comic artist and art educator Anna Sailamaa at the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia. (Marijas iela 13/3, Berga bazārs). On 10 and 11 September, creative workshops under the guidance of the artist will take place at the Riga Grammar School of Nordic Languages, Cesis Central Library and Cesis Elementary School.
Anna Sailamaa (1979) is a visual storyteller, freelance illustrator and art educator. She started working with comics around 2007 while studying at Aalto University in Helsinki. At the moment she makes drawings, illustrations, comics, animations, takes part in exhibitions and works as a teacher at the Institute of Design in Lahti. Her comics have been translated also in France, Belgium and Poland and she has won the main prize of the international comics competition at the “Fumetto” comics festival in Lucerne, Switzerland. Anna Sailamaa is a member of the Finnish comic artists association “Kutikuti” which promotes the status of new and high-quality Finnish comics in Finland and abroad since 2005. In 2016 Anna visited Latvia to hold a comics workshop for youth at the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre where the “Kutikuti” 10-year anniversary exhibition “Tempora Mutantur” took place.
