At the Baltic Sea Energy Security Summit, which was held on August 30, 2022 in Denmark, leaders of the Baltic Sea countries signed the Marienborg Declaration, an agreement on increasing the amount of offshore wind capacity in the Baltic Sea sevenfold by 2030.
The declaration follows Russia's reduction or halting of gas supplies to several countries this year, including a number of Baltic Sea countries, and the European Commission's call for increased energy resilience and independence.
The Summit was held to promote the Baltic region's energy independence, self-sufficiency, and leadership in innovation.
