Comic exhibition “Myth Breakers” originated in Latvia and will be on display in Helsinki until 8 October.
Our colleague Ieva Hermansone came up with the concept for the exhibition as a testament to the 10-year collaboration between our office and the publishing house Kuš!. Being showcased in all three Baltic countries, the exhibition has now travelled to the Nordics. On 17 September the exhibition was opened at the library of Nordic Culture Point in Helsinki, Finland. The opening gathered comic enthusiasts, our Finnish colleagues, exhibition curator David Schilter, and a line of the participating artists.
The exhibition brings together works by 16 comic artists exploring perceptions and stereotypes that are relevant both in Latvia and the Nordic countries. For many, the region is associated with trolls, Vikings, polar nights, saunas, swimming in ice-cold water, and perhaps hygge and fika, Nokia and IKEA. But that is far from the whole story. Some may have heard about an excellent education system in one of the Nordic countries or a high level of welfare in another, but what really lies behind these perceptions? The artists were challenged to explore this question by creating works that reflect their unique perspectives on life.

The exhibition will be on display until mid-October at the library of Nordic Culture Point, Kaisaniemenkatu 9, Helsinki.
The artworks from “Myth Breakers” have also been compiled in issue 57 of the Nordic-Baltic comic magazine “Š!”, which is distributed worldwide and is also available at the Nordic Culture Point library.
To date, the exhibition has been shown in many cities across Latvia, as well as in Lithuania and Estonia. The exhibition was first presented to the public as part of the annual Nordic Days in Kuldīga in autumn 2025.
