When the first Covid lockdown hit there was a popular mime circulating around that showed artist’s daily routine unaffected by the new conditions. Just as he/she was quietly working in his/her studio isolated from the world before the pandemic, so was he/she now.

Does it mean artists were less affected by the isolated work-life conditions and can teach the rest some valuable coping techniques? Or has it on the contrary revealed to the rest of us mental challenges most artists face in their work-life?  Are there special requirements for an artist’s wellbeing? Does the ‘traditional’ attachment to hurt and suffering hinder artists to look for help? Is there a way to practice wellbeing and be creative at the same time?

On April 21, 2021, 19:00 the online discussion “Artist’s Mental Health: Can an artist be happy” will take place in Facebook. The discussion will be moderated by Anda Kļaviņa, art dealer and positive psychology consultant. She will invite for discussion a Danish writer and philosopher Finn Janning, a Norwegian art dealer and art historian Eivind Furnesvik and a Latvian photography artist and curator of ISSP Gallery in Riga Iveta Gabaliņa.
