Climate neutrality by 2050: Nordic Economic Policy Review conference

On 26 October, the Nordic Economic Policy Review will host the peer-review conference Climate neutrality by 2050. It will take place at the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion in Oslo. The review conducts and provides economic research annually on a different issue that's important to the Nordic region and agenda. This year's theme is climate neutrality, which is high on both the Nordic and EU agendas. By 2050, the EU aims to be carbon neutral. EU and Nordic countries also have their own national goals and strategies.

In 2019, the Nordic countries shared their “Declaration on Nordic Carbon Neutrality”:

“Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark want to lead by example. With this declaration, we commit ourselves to working towards carbon neutrality in the five Nordic states and to pursuing Nordic climate diplomacy in international forums to deliver solutions with impact on the global emissions.”

The upcoming conference will examine, among other things, the economic policies required in the Nordic countries to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, as mandated by EU law, as well as how the countries will meet the EU's intermediate target of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

Register for online or in-person participation here. The event is free of charge.
