The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia is pleased to support Riga Contemporary. Taking place from 2–5 July at Hanzas Perons, the international contemporary art fair brings together more than 40 galleries from over 15 countries and presents works by more than 100 artists from across Europe, Asia, and North America.
This year’s public programme features a strong Nordic presence, welcoming leading art professionals from Denmark, Sweden, and Finland to Riga. Among them are Julie Quottrup Silbermann, CEO of CHART Art Fair in Copenhagen; Rasmus Stenbakken of ARKEN Museum; Marie Karlberg, artist and gallerist at Beau Travail in Stockholm; Lovisa Hamrin, Chair of the Hamrin Foundation; Saara Hacklin, Chief Curator at Kiasma in Helsinki; and Alice Folker, Head of the Danish Gallery Association.
The Nordic speakers will contribute to discussions on the role of regional art fairs, museums and collaborative economies, new forms of cultural partnerships, and the future development of the contemporary art ecosystem.
Supporting cultural exchange and mobility has long been an important part of Nordic cooperation. Encounters between artists, curators, institutions, and audiences create new ideas, strengthen regional networks, and contribute to an open and vibrant cultural landscape across the Nordic and Baltic region.
Riga Contemporary is organised by Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in collaboration with Riga City Council and is open to visitors free of charge with prior registration.
