On 19–20 May, team of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia went on a regional visit to Daugavpils, focusing on strengthening civic resilience and the role of Nordic competitiveness in regional development.
The visit was led by Director Nina Hvid Enevoldsen, accompanied by advisors Vadims Murašovs, Katrīna Vītola, Gints Janums and Armands Jukums. The programme began with a meeting with the Rector of Daugavpils University, Arvīds Barševskis, to discuss potential areas of cooperation in education and research, with particular emphasis on the university’s role in regional development and the strengthening of digital skills.
The programme also included meetings with representatives of the City Council, the Rothko Museum, independent Daugavpils media outlet Chayka.lv and the Latgale editorial office of the Latvian Public Media (LSM). Discussions focused on Nordic competitiveness and the strengthening of societal resilience. In light of recent drone-related incidents in the Latgale region, these topics were particularly relevant, highlighting the need for continued cooperation and information exchange.
Meetings with Daugavpils representatives confirmed the city’s contribution to strengthening cooperation and regional development.
