Until 1st of April, civil servants and other staff with similar functions employed in public administration, authorities and institutions at all administrative levels were able to apply for the mobility funding within the framework of the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme “Public Administration”. Out of the 14 approved applications, six were submitted by municipal institutions and eight by state administration institutions.
The purpose of the mobility grant is to facilitate exchange visits to the Nordic countries or to invite colleagues from the Nordic and Baltic countries to attend a workshop in one of the Baltic States. Candidates from all Baltic countries were eligible for funding. This year, the highest number of applications came from Latvia, with 17 submissions; Estonia followed with 12, and Lithuania with nine applications.
To be eligible for funding, the project must involve participants from at least two Nordic countries. This year, the representation of Nordic countries in the applications from Latvia is as follows: Finland is involved in 11 projects, Norway in seven, Iceland in six, Sweden in four, and Denmark in two projects.
The list of recipients of the mobility grant includes four Latvian municipalities: Liepāja, Mārupe, Rīga, and Valmiera. The state institutions granted the support for exchange visits: the Child Protection Centre, the Data State Inspectorate, the National Library of Latvia, the Patent Office, the Consumer Rights Protection Centre, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Court Administration, and the State Chancellery.
The next call for application is expected to be open at the end of January 2025.
