GREENHEAD (“Zaļgalvis”) is a TV program that has become a successful multimedia project about nature, climate, and responsible attitudes towards the environment, produced by the association "Ascendum" and "VFS Films". Through the engagement of the show’s host Rvīns Varde, who is a writer and nature lover himself, audiences get to take part as curious explorers within the field of the international environment, sustainability issues, and climate diplomacy.
The show has managed to reach a diverse audience that targets all kinds of age groups and aims at presenting the information in an accessible way. One of the goals of the project is to educate young people about the sustainable use of our planet's resources and to inspire them to act - as the school students are essential spokespeople in their families and communities that advocate for conscientious environmental attitudes.
The brand of “Greenhead” has been expanded and has taken part in podcasts and regular publications in online magazines. The show has been consulting with an array of environmental institutions in the development of its stories, i.e., featuring experts from the Worldwide Fund for Nature in Latvia.
The program also focuses on several of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. It also relates to the Nordic Council of Ministers Vision 2030, as it aims at promoting the environment, climate and energy, green solutions, environmental conditions in the Baltic Sea, effective environmental technologies, and the development of renewable sources of energy for more sustainable and smart communities in the Baltic Sea Region.
The program is supported by the office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Latvia.
