Collectors and philanthropist have had an immense and increased impact on the cultural landscape all across the globe in the recent decades. To illustrate that a popular caricature by artist Pablo Helguera states that art collectors are the new curators. Curators are the ones who establish the link of meaning between separate artwork hence influencing what value is attributed to certain artists and their work. As the first wave of collectors have opened their art institutions in the Baltic States, what can they learn from their Nordic counterparts? What role have the private and corporate collectors played in the Nordic region? What set of values and vision are guiding them? How can their example be used to stimulate the involvement and generosity of other businesses towards art, culture and charity?
