The aim of the webinar series "Future Creative Cities” is to promote the involvement of Latvian cities in the selection for the European Capital of Culture 2027 to prepare high quality and competitive submissions.
In order to encourage discussions and present the different perspectives of urban planning on May 11,2021 the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia and the Norwegian Embassy in Latvia is taking part in organising the webinar “Urban Design Thinking”. The presentation “Agenda 2030 – Action now with United Future Lab Norway” will be given by Marielle Furnes Mannseth, CEO of United Future Lab Norway and Anne Lise Sagen Major, a strategic futurist at Ålesund municipality and a member of the team at the United Future Lab Norway.
How can we design future cities that are desirable and provide people with a better life? Experts are aware of the wide potential for possible action, but the question of how to develop the city remains largely unanswered. The presentation "Agenda 2030 - Action now with United Future Lab Norway" will showcase the experience of Ålesund in establishing United Future Lab Norway, whose main goal is the development of sustainable cities and communities and the achievement of the UN sustainability goals by 2030. The Future Lab is organized as a partnership of participants from public sectors, academia, industry and commerce who want to accelerate sustainable development. Based on the UN’s sustainability measurement, the lab and the partners will point out contributing priority areas and projects. Through the membership in U4SSC ip, United Future Lab Norway takes part in a global network where cities in the world exchange their knowledge and strengths to find sustainable and smart solutions. The Future Lab is established and operated by the municipality of Ålesund but is also depending on contributions from partners as defined in partnership agreements.
