How is the war in Ukraine affecting societies and individuals? “Women in War” is a series of eight documentaries about women of Ukraine, Russia, or the Baltics living in Nordic and Baltic countries. The author of the docuseries is Olga Jóhannesson and this is a part of the “People-to-People” media project supported by The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council.
In the 3rd episode, we meet journalist and talk show host, Olga Dragiļeva from Latvia. “Truth is an objective fact. So you just have to check your facts as well as you can. And if you are wrong you correct yourself...” Olga states this whilst talking about the importance of finding the truth with journalism.
She particularly notes the importance of challenging the Kremlin’s understanding that truth does not exist. Further, she elaborates on the time after the war in Ukraine started, and how divisive things have been between certain parts of the Russian-speaking population in Latvia.
