The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia on April 5, 2016 is organising the Nordic-Baltic Media Meeting to discuss how the Nordic media institutions could support the development and strength of independent, high-quality media and journalism in the Baltic States. The meeting will be held in two parts - the first part of the meeting will be held in English to have an up-to-date picture of the situation with briefings and situation reports concerning the media situation in the Baltics in general, focusing on Russian-language media in particular. The second part will be held in Swedish. This part will consist of deliberations among Nordic representatives in if and how the Nordic institutions could support the development of independent media and journalism in the Baltic States, and how such possible efforts would be coordinated. Among other participants and guests Henrik Hartmann, Secretary-General of Nordvision, Anders Alexanderson, Director at the Centre for Media Studies at SSE Riga, Mary Gestrin, Head of Communications for the Nordic Council of Ministers Communication Department, Gunilla Ohls, Strategy Director at YLE and Ingela Wadbring, Director of the Nordicom will take part in this meeting.
